Allergic conjunctivitis includes a wide variety of symptoms, ranging from simple itching to more severe eye pruritus, and many signs such the trantas dots that are accumulations of altered epithelial cells and eosinophils. This sign is frequent in severe ocular allergy. However, chronic ocular friction during allergic conjunctivitis could be one of the most important environmental factors that lead to development of keratoconus on genetically predisposed sites. That is why sometimes the simple fact of avoiding rubbing your eyes can save your eyesight. This simple prescription could reduce the incidence of keratoconus and slow down its progression.
