Students used to read books. Lot of Text with big chapters. Most students nowadays don’t prefer big Text Books and use them as a source of reference only. Smaller Concept oriented books mainly with Questions and Explanations are in Fashion and demand. They add Charisma and Interest in reading and are more Examination oriented. Books can’t be updated every now and then. Now online Reading and Testing has picked up and things are continuously updated with changing concepts in Medicine. Students want access to study mater in Wards, Play fields, while travelling, Corridors and Toilets beyond Classes, and Libraries. There are many Books present for our Students who are planning to appear for the Accident and Emergency. Some students like the Traditional Book Way. Others have relied on Online content mostly. But The Students need to be aware of the Latest and the changing patterns of Medical Testing for studying to implement a proper preparation plan. Accident and Emergency tests your knowledge of various subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Microbiology, and Pathology, Foreign sciences, Pediatrics, Orthopedics as well as Radiology.

Even a student preparing for any examination should have a perfect concept of the basic Concepts and most of the times students are challenged with questions based on Basics. Most of the students get these questions wrong. Example of Question asked with Educational Objective of Understanding a Case and Answer:

A 55 year-old young male is brought to the emergency room after an Accident on a highway in an unconscious state. His vital signs are, temperature: 97.60F; PR: 134/min; BP: unrecordable; RR: 20/min. On examination he has multiple rib fractures with a portable chest x-ray showing superior Mediastinum width of 9.5cm (Normal is <8cm). What would be the next step in management of this patient?

Answer: Do an immediate CT chest.

This Question would test this is a case of Aortic Rupture. The confirmatory test is CT or an Angiogram Aortic rupture should be ruled out in all the trauma patients with severe chest trauma and hypotension.

Such type of Educational Strategy is picking up by generating interest in students. It proves as a practical means of how a patient would present, how a doctor would deal with the situation, how he would interpret the tests and results and what his diagnosis and further plan of action would be.

The concept is applied practically in most branches of Medical Sciences now and more so in Accident and Emergency.
