The consultation psychiatric liaison nurse is a significant and diverse specialty within generalist health services. Mental health nurses in non-traditional mental health settings provide a range of services including: direct patient care, education and research, staff support and capacity building, and organisational planning consultation. The history of this specialty dates back to the early 1960’s in North America with the increasing influence of holistic and patient centred nursing care.
Research within this area continues to emergeand we invite researchers to submit original research articles, review articles, case reports, mini reviews, rapid communication, opinions and editorials on all related aspects of psychiatric consultation liaison nursing that will stimulate the continuing efforts to generate and implement evidence-based knowledge and practice within this specialty.
